Planning a wedding is hard work. Now imagine doing it across the country 3,000 miles away. That’s what Megan & Robbie had to do. Plan a Newport wedding while live and work across the country in CA. Luckily they had their incredible parents to rely on to help find vendors, choose last-minute details and more. We were so happy that Megan’s mom, Wendy contacted us. It feels like just yesterday when we were all meeting at the Starbucks in Newport in December of 2018. Gosh! I can’t believe it’s been a year and we’re here already.

Megan & Robbie celebrated at the incredible Newport Vineyards, surrounded by their closest family and friends. We got to experience their weekend first hand. Wendy invited us to their rehearsal dinner hosted at their amazing Newport home, and we were quickly welcomed in like family. After getting to know Megan, Wendy, Robbie and Gordon over the past year we felt so connected to this group of people that when it came time to actually photograph them all, it was like photographing our best friends we’ve known our whole life.

I cannot wait to share this sneak peek with you. From Megan’s getting ready and Wendy crying to Wendy’s speech and me balling my eyes out (not pictured haha)…this wedding was filled with tears, love, and happiness. We’re so excited to share a sneak peek into their special day.

Everyone knows that our absolute favorite venue to head to is Newport Vineyards. And no, it’s not because their wine is ABSOLUTELY our favoriter (we’re actually having their wine exclusively at our wedding) but it’s because of the incredible team, paired with the absolutely gorgeous vineyard views. You feel like you’re up in the mountains in Southern California yet you’re seconds from Newport Beach. I am so excited to share with you Alisa & Andrea’s day and our first wedding at the vineyard for 2018! We had an absolute incredible time with them and their insanely funny wedding party. Michelle & Gary’s Plimoth Plantation wedding was absolutely beautiful last month. First off - I had no idea that Plimoth Plantation hosted weddings! After our couples book with us, we normally meet up plenty of times before the wedding to not only go over everything and make sure that we’re all prepared for the day ahead but more importantly to get to know our couples, their story and their families. Over the past 8 years there’s only been a couple of exceptions where we’re usually unable to do so but when we arrive on the wedding day, it’s like we’ve been getting together all along. Liz & Phil were one of those exceptions.

Jenn, Oksana and I had an absolute blast documenting their day as it unfolded. It was almost like we were documenting our best friend. The Bohlin in Newport, RI provided the perfect backdrop for their incredible summery, coastal vibe and their wedding party, family and friends were some of the absolute nicest people on the planet.

I am SO excited to show you Christina & Alex’s elopement. We’ve photographed a lot of weddings and out of all the venue’s we’ve been to, Providence City Hall might be my favorite. It’s so special and unique and it photographs beautifully. Christina and Alex’s story is honestly incredible. They met in Boston and it was pretty unexpected. Christine was in boston celebrating a friend’s birthday and Alex was visiting the city from Spain for work. To this day they’re still arguing who bumped into who but regardless, that bump jump started their relationship. Since then, a million Whatsapp messages have been exchanged, dozens of postcards and letters in the mail, and countless plane rides back and forth across the Atlantic. It wasn’t too long because it was clear to both of them that it was time to bridge the gap and start a life and home together.

Here it is! The first “official” wedding of 2019. However, Heather and Chris did things totally different for their day and instead of throwing a big, huge extravagant wedding, they threw an incredible intimate dinner party with their closest friends and family. If we’re being honest, that’s some of our favorite days to photograph. We had an incredible night with these two and cannot thank them enough for allowing us to photograph such an important day.

Meet: Heather & Chris

When we get contacted to photograph an elopement, we get so excited. It combines all the things we love about a wedding in a more intimate setting with just a handful of the couple’s closest family and friends. While we’ve only done a couple of these, they’re turning out to be some of our favorites to photograph.

Allie & Dan’s love story is remarkable. They met while in León, Nicaragua in early 2014. . Allie was staying on a friend’s couch in a house where Dan sometimes used the refrigerator (it’s a long story). Soon after meeting, they began finding any opportunity to see each other. Both spending their days volunteering, they passed weekends traveling on hot, crowded buses to meet up at the beach, climb volcanoes, cycle on dirt roads, and talk for hours over tostones con queso.

Three short months after meeting, they parted ways in Nicaragua, not sure of what the future held but certain they would remain in one another’s lives. While Allie finished university in Boston and Dan pursued his qualifications in rock climbing in England, little by little they met each other’s worlds through visits with family and loved ones. It wasn’t all tearful Skype calls, though of those there were some — they continued to find adventures wherever life took them, whether to the southwest coast of England, Boston’s culture-clashing Freedom Trail, or the highest peak in the rainforests of Rwanda. 

After two years of long distance, they found that new and more long-term opportunities in Nicaragua were calling them back to the place where they first met. Dan set to work starting a sustainable adventure tour company and photography business, and Allie worked for a cooperative loan fund.

But most importantly, they were able to start a life and build a community together. Over those two years they welcomed family and friends to visit our home in León, and made so many more. They decided to spend the rest of our lives together after taking a look into their future and agreeing that they couldn’t imagine it any other way but learning and growing by each others’ sides. 

Allie & Dan tied the knot at a local park in Narragansett, RI. Although it was POURING out, they braved the weather and made it such an incredibly fun time. Nothing stopped these two. They ditched the umbrellas and even took a dip in the pool. We are SO HONORED to have captured their love story and this next chapter in their lives.

Meet: Allie & Dan

Every year we have a handful of couples that truly stand out above the rest. Couples that not only fall in love with our photographs but become true friends to Jenn and I. They’re usually the laid back type, the adventurous duo and are always up for a cup of coffee, lunch or dinner with us. Emily & Warren are definitely apart of that group. From the first breakfast date with them, I knew we’d be amazing friends. We shared a love for traveling, adventures, food, and so much more. When it became time to photograph their wedding day, I knew it was going to be perfect and boy, it sure was…

Emily & Warren got married at the amazing Newport Vineyards which combined their love for wine, and Rhode Island all in one. It turned out to be one of the best weather days we could’ve asked for with cloudy skies and cooler temps. It was a little rainy at the beginning portion of the day but as soon as the ceremony time came, the showers had passed and it was beautiful.

These photos mean a lot to me. Not only because Emily & Warren are client’s of ours, but because they’re client turned friends. I had such a hard time choosing specific edits to give them and really perfecting the photographs down to every last detail. However, I think you’ll see that these two are madly in love, and are perfect for one another. I can’t wait to show you more…but for now, enjoy these sneak peeks!

On a hot summer day, Christine & Jim tied the knot! After planning their coastal Rhode Island wedding from New York, the day was finally here. Christine had the absolute best team there to make sure everything went smoothly. Aubrey & Luke's wedding was absolutely fantastic. Set in the absolutely stunning Newport Vineyards (and maybe one of our favorite venues) we couldn't have asked for a better couple, venue, and wedding day! The weather was a blazing 95 degrees, the sun was out and you know what? I was just happy it didn't rain! I had so much fun getting to know these two over the past year. I remember when we photographed their Lovebird session at 5am in Newport. Seeing them smiling all day from ear to ear and really taking in every single moment was one of my favorite parts of the day. We walked away with some amazing images and in all honestly, there's so much more I wanted to show off! But for now we have a little sneak peek into their vineyard wedding below. Nicole & Pete are two people who are clearly made for one another. Both of them have so much fun in everything they do. From photographing their getting ready, ceremony and reception they had us dying laughing or in tears for how beautiful their day was. Seriously! (Although that's not abnormal for me, I think I cry at every wedding. What can I say? I'm a big sucker for love). Nicole & Pete made me feel like I was just another one of their bffs on the wedding day. They didn't want stuck up formal photos of themselves and they didn't want a ton of family formals. They just wanted to have fun. So I made sure that happened. I even got on the dance floor and whipped out a few moves (I'll spare you the agony of seeing that) We had a blast photographing their day and cannot wait to show everyone all their photos. What can I not say about Jessica & Nick? When Jess & Nick first contacted me, we immediately clicked on the phone and it felt like we’ve been best friends ever since. From their engagement shoot at Coppa, to multiple talks over the phone, and even an invitation to join them for their cake tasting (which oh em gee, it was amazing) I was so ecstatic to finally be able to photograph these two amazing people on a day where we celebrated them and their love.

I get close to my couples. But every year or so there’s always one couple that I tend to become bff’s with, the couple that not only hires me because I do great work, but because they know we’d make best friends. The couple that actually doesn’t mind getting together for dinner or drinks as a matter of fact, they’re excited too. They don’t just think I’m their photographer. They’re just as invested in me as I am with them. This year Nick & Jess was that couple.

I can go off for hours and tell you how their love story went but, I think the photos will speak for themselves. Instead I’d rather tell you what these two mean to me: I’ve never felt more cared for or loved by a couple. Jessica & Nick, you both are the most loving, selfless, and caring people I know. Throughout our whole process you loved hearing more about Jenn & I’s adventures than about your wedding. You sat with me and helped me plan out our engagement, you comforted me when I was worried to call Jenn’s mom, and you were there for us as soon as we got back from our trip, excited to hear about our adventures even though your wedding was a week away. You have cared more about me than any other couple has in all my years of photographing. You made me feel loved. You made me feel special, and you made me feel like your best friend. To be honest, I needed you more than you needed me. I cried when you were reading your vows to one another, during your first dance, and during your toasts. Your family and friends agree that you two are the most selfless people they know as well. You are always there for everyone around you and never questioning it. In this past year, I have seen it over and over again. So instead of you two thanking me for documenting your story, let me be the first to say thank YOU for allowing me to get to know such amazing, genuine, beautiful people. Thank YOU for allowing ME to capture and document this journey together. And thank you for always being there for me. Even if we’ve only known each other for a year now…I have a feeling we’re going to be best friends for a lifetime.

Well the time has finally come! It’s 2018 and the wedding season has begun. We couldn’t be happier that we started the season off with this beautiful couple at one of our favorite venues, Newport Vineyards.

Hilary & Chris choose to have an intimate wedding with 60 of their closest family and friends. Their day couldn’t have gone any smoother. The weather held up, the reception rocked and the photos came out stunning.

As a wedding photographer you pretty much always look forward to your weddings. You get to know the couple over the course of a year with their family and their relationships. It all comes together beautifully in the end. For Cassandra & Paul I enjoyed everything just a little bit more than usual. Cassandra was a referral bride from another client of mine, Tanna. Anytime a bride comes to me from another client, I am instantly more excited than usual. Not only did Tanna send Cassandra my way but Tanna was actually the MOH which made this day even better! To top it all off, Cassandra & Paul got married at one of my favorite venues: Bittersweet Farm. 

Bittersweet was one of the first ever venues I got to photograph at professionally on one of my first ever weddings (Alice & Josh for those of you who've been around awhile). I absolutely love the farm feel, mixed with the amazing food and beautiful ceremony location. It couldn't be a better place to tie the knot for these two.
