Whitney & Tom got married on probably a day when the weather and lighting changed the most times during an 8-hour day! From moody cloudy skies in the morning to beautiful bright sunshine during their ceremony, and then back to rainy clouds in the evening, it was like having all of New England weather in one day! But we were up for the challenge.
Whitney & Tom live in NJ and got engaged in Hoboken where they met. We had the privilege to actually go out there with them and explore their neighborhood before the wedding. It was absolutely perfect. From every cuisine imaginable to a small little Italian festival happening right near the park Tom proposed. We got to experience Hoboken and its vibe perfectly before their big day back in Newport.
Newport Vineyards set the scene for the day with beautiful florals from the incredible Leslie Lee. Hair & Makeup by The Traveler Beauty Co. and entertainment by Unique Sounds! Literally, everything came together perfectly and we can’t wait to share a sneak peek of their day with you all.

This is a blog post we’ve been waiting to write up for years!! Literally years in the making! Courtney invested in us and had her high school senior portrait taken by us all the way back in the early years of Willow (back when we were still called Ryan DeVoll Photography) and since then, we’ve followed her, and her family every step of the way leading to this moment: her wedding. Back when we started Willow, we started it with 2 ideas in mind. One: that we get to know each and every client on a personal level so that way we’re more like friends rather than family and two: that we don’t treat every wedding like a cookie cutter wedding. This couldn’t have come more full circle for us when it came to Courtney & Rigoberto’s day. Over the last 10ish years we’ve gotten to know Courtney, and she quickly became more of a friend than a “client” and meeting Rigoberto made us smile from ear-to-ear like a family member meeting him for the first time. We could tell from the first meeting with him that he just wanted to make sure his bride got the wedding day she deserves, and on the day of, they were both giggling and smiling all night long. You can tell Courtney definitely brings out the best of Rigoberto and vise versa.
All of this to say that it was an absolute pleasure to document yet another important part to Courtney’s story. We can’t wait to see these two grow and their story to now become one and continue to unfold.

Rainer & Carson threw the best 4th of july party you can go to - a wedding! Honestly, we love holiday weddings because it gives the chance for everyone to come together and family and friends to gather on a day they might not usually have plans. I know for us, 4th of July is either a hit or a miss, so when Rainer & Carson told us they’d be getting married that day, we jumped with excitement! We couldn’t wait.
Rainer always dreamed of having fireworks on her big day, and honestly, name a better day to get married where fireworks are literally in the sky all night long!

Meghan + Nick’s June wedding was absolutely beautiful. The Codman Estate set the backdrop for the most beautiful summer weddings anyone would ask for. Gorgeous weather for this incredible couple made the day complete! Megan’s attention to detail made everything go by seamlessly. We had a blast documenting the photo & video for this classy couple. It’s not every day you get to be on a property that was the hottest place to be in 1799. The grounds were absolutely stunning. The one thing that stuck out to us the most from this day was the wedding party. When folks ask us what the biggest party we’ve documented is…this definitely tops the cake. They were all so supportive of Meghan + Nick and so loving. Everyone close to them was involved from the get-go. Can you imagine meeting your partner at school and then years later, marrying them right back where it all began? Well for Alex and Ted, it was a dream come true a few weeks ago.
It was a beautiful spring day, warm, and barely a cloud in the sky. The backdrop: Providence College and Eisenhower House in Newport, RI. It seriously couldn’t get any better than that. Providence College’s campus is filled with beautiful lush greens, and the Eisenhower house is right on Newport’s coastline. Making it perfect for photos & video!

Kryslin & Larry became good friends of ours when we bought our home in February of last year. Larry does landscaping and we were in a total backyard makeover. Who would’ve thought that over the spring and summer of 2020 we’d become so close to one of our clients during a crazy world wide pandemic? We we’re so excited about it, and are so happy we did choose someone like Larry to help us with this transformation. Now, a year later, we finally got to celebrate with him and Kryslin. Earlier this month we had the absolute pleasure to document Heather & Chris’s intimate wedding at the beautiful Eisenhower House in Newport Rhode Island. Heather & Chris’s wedding ended up being on a cold, cloudy day but it made for some incredible photos! One thing we always tell brides is that as long as it’s not downpouring we’ll be good! Even if it is, as long as they’re up for it, we’ll go outside and take some incredible rain photos! Luckily, the rain held off and Heather & Chris were able to celebrate their day without worrying about anything! We’re so thankful for our couple’s who have a laid-back attitude and plan their wedding day with zero stress. Even if Heather was stressed, it sure didn’t seem it. She and Chris were the most welcoming, kind-hearted people we’ve ever met. We’re beyond thankful for them, their family and their incredible friends! Heather’s dad even mentioned us during his speech for saving Heather’s dress on the day of from getting attacked by a big pitbull (we ran in front and protected it at all costs). I cannot wait to share a sneak peek of theirs from the incredible day!

We don’t often travel for weddings. I’m not sure why. We actually L-O-V-E to travel. So anytime we get to combine our two favorite things: photography & traveling, we’re SO down. Thanks to Molly & Michael we were able to spend a beautiful September weekend in Vermont this year and the result was an incredibly fun day. These two just radiated fun all day long and it shows that in their relationship having fun is their number 1 priority. I cannot wait to share Jackie & Josh’s beautiful day with you all! I got to know these two over the past year. We bonded after their incredible Lovebird Session and if I remember correctly, they showed me my new favorite restaurant in Newport, Winner Winner (which, side note, has the BEST fried chicken in the state. You HAVE to try it). We quickly became friends and counted the days down to their big day at the vineyard. The day of couldn’t have been better. With cloudy overcast skies, cool september weather and their fun, laid back, “folk fest” theme to the day, you could say it was one of our favorite this past month.

Planning a wedding is hard work. Now imagine doing it across the country 3,000 miles away. That’s what Megan & Robbie had to do. Plan a Newport wedding while live and work across the country in CA. Luckily they had their incredible parents to rely on to help find vendors, choose last-minute details and more. We were so happy that Megan’s mom, Wendy contacted us. It feels like just yesterday when we were all meeting at the Starbucks in Newport in December of 2018. Gosh! I can’t believe it’s been a year and we’re here already.
Megan & Robbie celebrated at the incredible Newport Vineyards, surrounded by their closest family and friends. We got to experience their weekend first hand. Wendy invited us to their rehearsal dinner hosted at their amazing Newport home, and we were quickly welcomed in like family. After getting to know Megan, Wendy, Robbie and Gordon over the past year we felt so connected to this group of people that when it came time to actually photograph them all, it was like photographing our best friends we’ve known our whole life.
I cannot wait to share this sneak peek with you. From Megan’s getting ready and Wendy crying to Wendy’s speech and me balling my eyes out (not pictured haha)…this wedding was filled with tears, love, and happiness. We’re so excited to share a sneak peek into their special day.
