Whitney & Tom got married on probably a day when the weather and lighting changed the most times during an 8-hour day! From moody cloudy skies in the morning to beautiful bright sunshine during their ceremony, and then back to rainy clouds in the evening, it was like having all of New England weather in one day! But we were up for the challenge.
Whitney & Tom live in NJ and got engaged in Hoboken where they met. We had the privilege to actually go out there with them and explore their neighborhood before the wedding. It was absolutely perfect. From every cuisine imaginable to a small little Italian festival happening right near the park Tom proposed. We got to experience Hoboken and its vibe perfectly before their big day back in Newport.
Newport Vineyards set the scene for the day with beautiful florals from the incredible Leslie Lee. Hair & Makeup by The Traveler Beauty Co. and entertainment by Unique Sounds! Literally, everything came together perfectly and we can’t wait to share a sneak peek of their day with you all.

This is a blog post we’ve been waiting to write up for years!! Literally years in the making! Courtney invested in us and had her high school senior portrait taken by us all the way back in the early years of Willow (back when we were still called Ryan DeVoll Photography) and since then, we’ve followed her, and her family every step of the way leading to this moment: her wedding. Back when we started Willow, we started it with 2 ideas in mind. One: that we get to know each and every client on a personal level so that way we’re more like friends rather than family and two: that we don’t treat every wedding like a cookie cutter wedding. This couldn’t have come more full circle for us when it came to Courtney & Rigoberto’s day. Over the last 10ish years we’ve gotten to know Courtney, and she quickly became more of a friend than a “client” and meeting Rigoberto made us smile from ear-to-ear like a family member meeting him for the first time. We could tell from the first meeting with him that he just wanted to make sure his bride got the wedding day she deserves, and on the day of, they were both giggling and smiling all night long. You can tell Courtney definitely brings out the best of Rigoberto and vise versa.
All of this to say that it was an absolute pleasure to document yet another important part to Courtney’s story. We can’t wait to see these two grow and their story to now become one and continue to unfold.

Rainer & Carson threw the best 4th of july party you can go to - a wedding! Honestly, we love holiday weddings because it gives the chance for everyone to come together and family and friends to gather on a day they might not usually have plans. I know for us, 4th of July is either a hit or a miss, so when Rainer & Carson told us they’d be getting married that day, we jumped with excitement! We couldn’t wait.
Rainer always dreamed of having fireworks on her big day, and honestly, name a better day to get married where fireworks are literally in the sky all night long!

Can you imagine meeting your partner at school and then years later, marrying them right back where it all began? Well for Alex and Ted, it was a dream come true a few weeks ago.
It was a beautiful spring day, warm, and barely a cloud in the sky. The backdrop: Providence College and Eisenhower House in Newport, RI. It seriously couldn’t get any better than that. Providence College’s campus is filled with beautiful lush greens, and the Eisenhower house is right on Newport’s coastline. Making it perfect for photos & video!

Micaela + Andy weren’t just clients for us. They felt like family.
Last year we photographed Andy’s sister’s wedding…and even before that, we knew Andy’s brother Will from years back when he taught Ryan in high school! Crazy right?! Photographing Andy & Micaela felt like we were just at one of our best friends wedding. We knew everyone and everyone knew us. We had a bunch of laughs, endless inside jokes, and so much fun we seriously didn’t want to leave at the end of the night. To top it all off, they were at our favorite venue @newportvines.
Although the day was a little misty, that just meant we had the entire beach to ourselves and it was so dreamy 😍. A lot of folks don’t realize that cloudy days are sometimes better than bright sunny ones. And you know what they say, if it 🌧 on your wedding day, it’s good luck, right?
Either way, these two don’t need any luck. They’re already so perfect, so “sweet” (inside joke) and I have no doubt that their love is endless for one another.

We’ve been photographing pretty close to home lately. One place we absolutely love is Westminster Street in Providence. Not only is it home to some incredible restaraunts and small businesses, but it’s Hotel Providence & Grace church, which we visit frequently.

Kryslin & Larry became good friends of ours when we bought our home in February of last year. Larry does landscaping and we were in a total backyard makeover. Who would’ve thought that over the spring and summer of 2020 we’d become so close to one of our clients during a crazy world wide pandemic? We we’re so excited about it, and are so happy we did choose someone like Larry to help us with this transformation. Now, a year later, we finally got to celebrate with him and Kryslin. Last year when COVID hit, Brianna & Justin didn’t let anything stop them. They gathered their friends and family in a small local, and safe setting by a park nearby their house and said “I do”. So this year, when a literal tropical storm threatened their big day, they didn’t even let it phase them. In fact, they told me they heard a rumor that if it’s suppose to rain on your wedding that you go around and but rosary beads around your house’s yard, your venue, and even your hotel, and the Lord above will grant you beautiful weather….and let me tell you - IT WORKED! It was literally raining cats & dogs while I was driving to Newport for Brianna & Justin’s big day and just when I pulled up, the rain stopped, the clouds disappeared and it was a beautiful summer day in the ocean state.
This just goes to show you that these two are ready to go through any storm, any battle, any PANDEMIC together, as one. They are some of the sweetest people we’ve ever met, and are so caring, loving, and kind. We had an absolute blast heading back to our favorite venue (Newport Vineyards) and hanging out with the staff there after what seemed like a lifetime thanks to COVID.

Finally! We are back at it! Guys - it’s been one hell of a year and if any couples can relate, it’s those who like Jenn and myself, had to reschedule their wedding day thanks to last year’s global pandemic. Allie & Mark are one of those couples who through all the uphill battles that 2020 handed them, persevered and let nothing stop them from creating the most magical day. And boy, they didn’t fall short.
We had an absolute blast on their day. It might’ve been spring but it sure felt like summer with 90-degree weather, Thankfully we were at The Wyndham Newport Hotel in Newport, RI, and it sits almost directly on the water! Their wedding party, family, and friends truly were beyond excited to finally get together after a year of being cooped up in the house! Everyone was on the dance floor all night long!
